Thank You Notes
i’ve posted three of my recent thank you notes. I recognize a theme. But I’m wary of the theme becoming a great big thank you and apology series. I want to be careful.
As a child I was … I think ….. pretty well reared. We wrote thank you notes after birthday parties and after receiving gifts of any kind on whatever occasion. And as a grown-up, the day after being at any party warrants a phone call at least. (One hopes it isn’t to a bail bondsman.)
I bought a couple of varieties of stationery with my name on them, sort of on a whim, and all of it sat around for awhile because I mostly use email for correspondence. Then one day I wrote a note to someone. At first this was really weird because I scarcely ever handwrite anymore and I didn’t like the look of my handwriting but then said, “whatEVAH!” Errr…. anyway so I got in the habit of writing cards people at the spur of the moment. It’s easy enough to write a thank you note when you get a present, but I found that having this stationery made me look for MORE opportunities to be thankful.
Seek, and you shall find. I’ve found more opportunities to enjoy using this stationery than I could ever have dreamed. There is much for which to be thankful. In my life. In yours.
Writing thank you notes is its own reward.
